A 2-year-old boy needed more than 200 stitches after he was attacked by the family dog Monday afternoon, according to police.
The boy was taken to Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland after the animal bit his face, Willowick Police Lt. Donald Crocker said. He was released this morning after receiving surgery.
The attack occurred in the family’s home on East 323rd street in Willowick.
The boy did not deliberately provoke the dog, Crocker said. He had been walking by the German shepherd-husky mix when it attacked him. It is unknown if the boy accidentally stepped on the dog’s tail.
The dog has been put into a kennel, Crocker said, and nobody has been charged with a crime in relation to the dog attack.
